A journey to improve English learning

I am a lifelong English learner
Kyrylo Silin - the author of Matcharoo

Hey, it's Kyrylo! 👋

I've been learning English for over 20 years. I've tried many methods to improve my vocabulary. I've read books, watched movies, used flashcard apps, and played games. I've even tried to memorize words from a dictionary. But it was too time-consuming and boring.

I wanted to find a different solution. I wanted to create an app that would help me memorize new words quickly.

My wife studied Ukrainian on DuoLingo and played the Match Madness challenge. She struggled quite a lot with it, and I tried to help her beat it. We competed against each other to see who could log the best time. Eventually, she won 😭

And thus, an idea was born! I decided to make a game where you match synonymous or related words together so that I could improve my English vocabulary.

I played it. I loved it. If I were a teacher, I would have projected it on a screen for students to play.
